Continuing Education

Nurses who wish to further their professional development or expand their professional career can prusue specialty certification.  The School of Health Sciences offers two certification programs.

 

With the Nurse Educator Certificate, principles of learning and teaching skills needed to become an effective clinical educator (staff development) or academic educator are facilitated. Participants receive graduate level credits that are eligible for transfer into future graduate study. The certificate is intended for individuals involved in nursing education or nursing staff development with either a baccalaureate or masters’ degree, who want to expand their knowledge and practice expertise.


A Post-Master’s Nurse Practitioner Certificate is designed to expand existing practice roles to include the direct care delivery for adult and family populations. Wellness, health promotion, and levels of preventionin various clinical settings within specialized populations are supported by expert faculty. Requirements of the Post-Masters Nurse Practitioner Certificate are individually crafted with review of prior, graduate coursework to suit learning objectives and prepare nurses to pass required certification exams for their practice.
