Notes

In the 1976-1977 school year, Philip Mack took over as the director of the Oratorio Society. Hubert Wash became the director of the Concert Choir and Chamber Singers.

The Concert Choir, now under the direction of Hubert Wash, enjoyed an active season. Performances included the "Festival of Lessons and Carols" on December 3, a choral concert on February 11, and a concert with the Chamber Choir and Symphonic Wind Ensemble on May 26. In November of 1976, the Concert Choir assisted in the dedication service of the Otto M. Miller Science Learning Center. Their annual tour took them through Washington, Oregon and California with stops in Centralia, Grants Pass, Sacramento, Ontario, Westminster, Downey, Huntington Beach, Los Altos, San Jose, Salinas, Santa Rosa, and Portland.
1976-1977 Repertoire

The Oratorio Society presented a performance of "Gloria" by Vivaldi and "Messiah" by Handel on November 28, 1976, at the Seattle Opera House. The podium was shared by Philip Mack and Richard Turley. Soloists were Joyce Berger, soprano; Mira Frohnmayer, contralto; Ira Jones, tenor; and Hubert Wash, bass. The Society's spring concert was held May 22, 1977 at the College Church. The performance featured Mendelssohn's "Elijah" accompanied by Marcile Mack on piano and JoAnn Strimler on organ. The SPU Singers joined the Oratorio for this performance. Soloists were Hubert Wash, baritone; Jan Balcom, soprano; Peach Fosket, soprano; Lori Larsen, soprano; Trissa Maple, alto; Jon Ellis, tenor; and John Hendrix, tenor.
