Notes

No changes were made in the leadership of the major ensembles in the 1970-1971 school year. Wayne Balch directed the Oratorio Society and Orchestra, Philip Mack directed the SPC College Choir and Carl Reed directed the Collegium Musicum.

The SPC College Choir presented a number of local performances during the year. Included in these was a performance called "Songs and Pictures for Christmas"- a presentation of choral music and artwork depicting the story of Christmas. Their annual tour took them through Oregon and California including stops in Portland, Grass Valley, Glendale, Sepulveda, Pomona, Temple City, Whittier, Vista, Pacific Palisades, Los Angeles, Redlands, Cypress, Downey and Seattle.
1970-1971 Repertoire

The Collegium Musicum presented "An Evening of Ensemble Music" on May 25, 1971.

The Oratorio Society presented their annual Christmas program at the Seattle Opera House on December 6, 1970. Carl Reed assisted the orchestra on harpsichord and soloists were Florence Mesler, soprano; Lavonne Dickson, alto; Thomas Tavener, tenor; and John Hay, bass. On May 23, 1971, the group presented Brahms' "A German Requiem" at the College Church with Myrna Capp on piano and Lester Groom on organ. Soloists were Gail Anderson, soprano, and Paul Hayden, baritone.

The SPC Ensemble got a new name at this time. They were now called "SPU Singers" and remained a combination of the two small ensembles "The Victory Quartet" and "The Carillon Trio."
