Notes

In the 1956-1957 school year, Lawrence Schoenhals took the position of Dean of Administration. He retained the position of Director of the School of Music and director of the Oratorio Society. Robert Scandrett took over as director of A Cappella Choir. Philip Mack came on the faculty at this time and directed the Chorale, formerly known as the Choral Ensemble. This year, it again was an ensemble of mixed voices.

A Cappella Choir sang at a number of local churches and at the Easter sunrise service. In March, they took a ten-day tour to Eastern Washington, south through Oregon, and down into California, stopping at Sacramento, San Jose, Oakland, and other California cities. On the trip home, they came north to Vancouver, WA through Olympia and returned to Seattle March 26.

The Chorale, the Choral Ensemble revamped and renamed this year, performed in the Homecoming Festival of Praise and in World Missions Night. They also sang in chapel and in many neighboring churches.

The Oratorio Society again met during Autumn and Spring Quarters. Their first concert, at Christmas time, featured the "Christmas Oratorio" by J. S. Bach. In the spring, they sang a series of numbers including "Hora Novissima" by Horatio Parker. Marcile Mack accompanied on the piano and Winston Johnson on the organ.
