Notes

Lawrence Schoenhals continued as Director of the School of Music in the 1942-1943 school year. During the year he directed the A Cappella Choir and the College Chorus. John Lundberg remained an instructor in voice but it is unclear whether the Girls' Glee Club he had directed in the past was still in existence.

The A Cappella choir performed numerous Sunday evening concerts during the year. The choir went on tour and took a concert trip to Everett. They also traveled to Renton and Foster high schools for performances. A highlight of the year was singing on two "Fellowship Hour" broadcasts. According to the Cascade, " Concert music chosen to portray the life of Christ. A marked spiritual emphasis was introduced into each concert by the personal testimonies and choruses which were looked forward to and enjoyed by both choir members and audiences."

The "Fellowship Hour," now in its 14th year and broadcast on KOMO, often featured the Victory Quartet. This Sunday morning program was directed by Professor Gibson while Professor Schoenhals was music director. The program also often featured hymns, organ solos (Professor Talmadge F. Elwell on the studio organ) and tenor solos by Professor Lundberg.

The College Chorus performed the "Elijah" by Mendelssohn in McKinley Auditorium and also in Westminster Presbyterian Church. Soloists were Genevieve Sistig, soprano; Elaine Anderson, contralto; John Lundberg, tenor; and Carlyle Kelley, bass. At Commencement, they sang a program of songs taken from various cantatas. They were accompanied by Una Jean Naslund and Marion Wilson.
