Notes

The School of Music moved to new facilities in the 1936-1937 school year. The former high school building was renovated and changed to Music Hall. The college also purchased a Philco combination phonograph and radio equipment and new records were added to the library.

Marion Joy Stoll continued as director of the College Chorus and the A Cappella Choir. The Cascade notes that A Cappella is "fast becoming one of the most outstanding of school organizations. Its first appearance this year was on Nov. 20, when it presented its fall concert in the college chapel. The choir has assisted in numerous morning chapel services, the fall community reception, and the spring open house. The first off-campus concert was at a vesper service at the Mount Baker Presbyterian Church on Jan 24. This was followed by other appearances before church and alumni groups."

At Christmas time, the College Chorus, assisted by the orchestra, presented the "Messiah" at the College Church. Soloists were Marion Stoll, soprano; Mary Bycroft, alto; William J. Murphy, tenor; and Harold Best, baritone. In its annual spring recital, on June 3, the chorus performed excerpts from Mendelssohn's "Hymn of Praise" and "The Village Blacksmith" by Charles Noyes, words by Longfellow.
