   Owen M. Ewald, Ph.D., Chair, Foreign Languages and Literatures

Owen M. Ewald teaches Latin, Greek, ancient literature, ancient history, and a survey of art history.  His research interests include Roman and Greek historiography, Roman and Greek mythology, and scientific use of Latin.  He can be reached at ewaldo@spu.edu.

 

    Kathryn Bartholomew, Ph.D

Kathryn Bartholomew teaches undergraduate and graduate linguistics (introduction, morphology, second language acquisition/methods of teaching languages), languages (French, Italian) and European Studies (in study/travel programs).  She directs the SPU Master of Arts program in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (www.spu.edu/tesol), in which she supervises the Language Learning Practicum and teaches Professional Issues and Ethics as well as an elective course on traditional English grammar.  Her research interests include the language learning process and ethical leadership in language education (ESL/EFL and world languages).  She can be reached at kbarthol@spu.edu.

    Katya Nemtchinova, Ph.D.

Katya Nemtchinova teaches Russian language and literature as well as methodology and linguistics courses in the MA TESOL program. Her research interests include technology in language teaching, teacher education, and the issues of nonnative English speaking professionals in TESOL. She can be reached at katya@spu.edu.

 

 

   Eric Vogt, Ph.D.

Eric W. Vogt teaches all levels of Spanish language, including composition and conversation. In the literature area, he teaches Spanish Golden Age literature (Renaissance & Baroque peninsular literature), the Latin American Capstone Seminar (Gabriel García Márquez's Cien años de soledad being the primary text) and Translation, technical and literary. His published research reflect this geographical and historical range. In addition, Dr. Vogt is certified by the American Translators Association as a technical translator and is active in this guild. He can be reacehed at kamiki@spu.edu.
