Requirements for the Major
A European Studies major/Europe program requires 61 credits, of which 25
must be upper-division, in addition to the 21 base course
credits, other major requirements and the following:
- European history and political science courses (15
credits)
HIS 1201 or 1202 (5 credits) HIS/POL 3440 (5
credits) Elective courses in HIS/POL (5 credits)
- European languages (20 credits)
(minimum competency
through 2103 in one language)
- Elective courses (5 credits)
Note: Elective credits are to be
chosen in consultation with the student's advisor from courses in
foreign language, literature in translation, or additional courses
from the areas listed above.
Requirements for the European Studies
Minor
The minimum requirement for a minor in European studies is 33 credits, of
which a minimum of 15 must be upper-division. Courses must
include:
- EUR 3247 Classics of Eastern European Literature (5 credits)
- EUR 3500 European Civilization (5 credits)
- EUR 4250 Contemporary European Issues and Personalities (3
credits)
- Modern European language courses (15 credits)
- Other European Studies courses (5 credits)
