an ASSP club
In Fashion Group, we use our God-given passion for fashion and the knowledge we learn in class to make a difference on SPU's campus and in the surrounding Seattle area.
Join us for a fun mix of group activities and community service projects — and make a fashionable statement at SPU and beyond!
How Do I Become a Member?
Any full- or part-time SPU student genuinely interested in fashion is welcome to join in. Membership involves
- Regular attendance and participation in club activities
- Agreement to abide by the SPU Fashion Group constitution (Signed form)
Campus and Community Service Projects
Examples of creative ways we put our beliefs into action and serve our local communities include:
Style Your Sole TOMS Shoe Event
Our group participated in TOMS Shoes "One for One" Program, and we invited all members of SPU's campus to join us. With One for One, TOMS gives a pair of shoes to a person in need for every pair of TOMS shoes that is purchased.
National Eating Disorder Awareness Week (NEDAW)
During NEDAW, we partnered with SPU's Student Counseling Center to create a clothing-as-art exhibit called "Alterations." The exhibit helped to educate students that clothes should be altered fit your body, not your body altered to fit the clothes.
We gathered donated clothing items from throughout SPU's campus and delivered them to the Union Gospel Mission in Seattle.
Boys & Girls Club Snohomish: A Day for Girls
Our group participated in the Snohomish Boys & Girls Club "day for girls," where we spoke on the importance of a positive body image. We also directed a fashion show featuring spring fashions to flatter all body types.
