Information for Current Students

All Engineering Majors

  • Declared Major or Minor Application

    Most students apply for engineering majors during winter quarter of their sophomore year. Transfer students apply after completing twelve credits of engineering courses.

Electrical Engineering
The requirements for the EE major are changing significantly. During this changeover, you may have a choice of which requirements to use. Please consult with an enginering advisor to find the set of requirements. The following requirements are recommended for typical students:



General Engineering

Beginning in 2009-2010, SPU will be offering a General Engineering major. Current freshmen and sophomores will be elgibile to apply for this major. Please contact Dr. Elaine Scott for more details.

General Engineering will have three areas of concentration:

  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Computer Engineering
  • Approriate and Sustainable Engineering

Computer Engineering

The Computer Engineering major will be replaced with the Computer Engineering concentration of the General Engineering major beginning in 2009-2010. Students interested in Computer Engineering, but not already accepted into the Computer Engineering major should contact Dr. Elaine Scott for more information.

Engineering and Applied Science

The Engineering and Applied Science major will be replaced with the General Engineering major beginning in 2009-2010. Students interested in Engineering and Applied Science, but not already accepted into the Engineering and Applied Science major should contact Dr. Elaine Scott for more information.

Physical Sciences (3:2)

The Physical Sciences major is exclusively for students completing a 3:2 program between SPU and a partner University. Please contact Dr. Elaine Scott for more details.
