Gary Evans
With 23 years of experience as an elementary teacher, Gary Evans has a rich background in the implementation of math, science and computers in the classroom. He currently serves as the K-12 science curriculum specialist for the Snohomish School District. He has also served as co-chair for the 1993 WSTA Conference, presented at WSTA conferences and has had articles published in science teaching journals.
Jack Jansons
As an Earth and biological sciences teacher in Yelm schools, Jack has extensive experience in developing investigations using multimedia. He has been involved in geological field research with the Department of Natural Resources and Battelle Pacific Northwest Laboratories, and was recognized as the 1994 Outstanding Earth Science Teacher for the Pacific Northwest region.
Mary McClellan
Mary has 19 years of high school teaching experience in the life sciences, 10 years of experience teaching university courses and workshops for teachers, and 12 years in nursing. She has a research partnership with Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, an NSF biotechnology workshop, and an NSF human genetics and bioethics workshop. Recognized for her excellence, she has been designated Renton Rotary Teacher of the Month, and both Regional and State Science Teacher of the Year by WSTA. She is also a Board member for the Washington Science Teacherıs Association.

Rick Ridgways
An associate professor of biology at SPU since 1991, Rick teaches courses in cell biology, developmental biology and neurobiology. His
ongoing research concerns the molecular and cellular basis of neural development and regeneration using invertebrate organisms as model systems.
Rochelle Rothaus
As a biology and Earth sciences teacher for nine years, Rochelle Rothausıs extensive study of marine environments provides a rich resource for integrating research into the curriculum. She currently is the Program Coordinator for Project GREEN (Global Rivers Environmental Education Network), which involves teachers and their classes in the study of river watersheds and environmental action projects based on the findings of their research.
Denise Simoneaux
As an adjunct faculty member at Seattle
Pacific, Denise has more than 10 years of laboratory research experience in molecular biology and biotechnology. She has worked with teachers in the Seattle area developing and implementing molecular biology and microbiology teaching units for the high-school classroom. As a research fellow at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, she studies the genetic basis for drug resistance in leukemia. |
