The Urban Involvement programs CityQuest and Urban Plunge aim to enhance urban service learning among SPU undergraduate students. CityQuest lets incoming SPU students engage the culture through community service. Urban Plunge is a five-day immersion experience designed to give participants a taste of what it is like to be homeless and what resources are available to Seattle's homeless population.
Urban Involvement connects SPU students to a variety of community organizations — through weekly service teams and quarterly immersion experiences. Teams are facilitated by student leaders under the mentorship of the John Perkins Center staff. Urban Involvement receives partial funding from Lilly SERVE.
For further information and ways to get involved visit the Perkins Center website or contact Owen Sallee, Urban Involvement Coordinator.
