The
William E. Simon Fellowship
for
Noble Purpose
The William
E. Simon Fellowship is an unrestricted cash grant designed to
encourage students as they complete their undergraduate education
to pursue lives that will benefit themselves and their fellow
men and women - that is, lives of "noble purpose."
Awards:
The
top award will be for $40,000. Two additional fellows will
be chosen each year to receive grants of $5,000 each.
Selection criteria:
- Demonstrated
passion, dedication, a high capacity for self-direction, and
originality in pursuit of a goal that will strengthen civil
society.
- Examples
of how recipients may use their award include
s Engage directly in the civic life
of their community.
s Help to create opportunity for
others, including job creation.
s Advance their expertise.
s Fund the ultimate realization
of their noble purpose.
Eligibility:
- Excellent academic
record.
- Extensive extracurricular
activities.
Application:
- Complete
Simon Fellowship Application Form found on web site listed below.
- Submit
official transcripts of all undergraduate course work
- Include
a letter of recommendation relevant to the applicant's noble
purpose.
- Write a
1,000 - 1,500 word narrative of past efforts, future plans,
and individual philosophy for living a life characterized by
noble purpose.
- Deadline
for submission is February 15, 2008.
