The Urban Youth Leadership Academy (UYLA) began as a week long residential program, funded by Lilly SERVE, for forty ninth and tenth graders from ethnically-diverse lower-income areas of Seattle. It is now an initiative of the John Perkins Center and receives partial funding from Lilly SERVE.
UYLA builds leadership capacity in urban youth through the Urban Roots: Summer Leadership Institute, Youth Outreach Interns, Summer Leadership Retreat, and Middle School Leadership Development programs.
