The
Fulbright Program was established in 1946, at the end of World
War II, to increase mutual understanding between the people of
the United States and other countries, through the exchange of
persons, knowledge, and skills. Nearly 5,000 Fulbright
grants are awarded each year for foreign national students, teachers,
professors and professionals to study, teach, lecture, and conduct
research in the U.S., and for U.S. nationals to do likewise outside
of the U.S.
