Faculty Grants

The Center supports faculty scholarship through a variety of programs.  SPU encourages, supports, and rewards four distinct yet overlapping types of faculty scholarship: the scholarship of discovery, the scholarship of teaching, the scholarship of application, and the scholarship of synthesis.

All SPU faculty are encouraged to apply for internal and external grants to support their research, scholarship, teaching, and creative projects.  The Center houses several SPU-sponsored grants, and individual schools or programs may also sponsor additional grants.  Internal grant applications do not need to follow the external grant application process.

The Grants Office, jointly housed in the Center and University Advancement, assists and facilitates the pursuit of outside funding.  Faculty applying for external grants should consult the External Grant Writing at SPU: A Guide for Faculty and Deans posted below.  Note that all external grant applications must follow the process outlined in this document, beginning with the completion of an Intent to Apply.  For more information, contact Laura Lundahl, Assistant Director for Grants.
