SERVE Leadership
Susan VanZanten Gallagher, Director of
SERVE, Director of The Center for Scholarship and Faculty Development,
and Professor
of English
Susan holds a B.A. in English from Westmont College 1978 and an
M.A. in American Literature in 1981 and a Ph.D. in American Literature
in 1982 both from Emory University. She has worked in faculty development for the past
twelve years, both with the CCCU and at SPU as the Director of
the New Faculty Seminar.
Her publications include Literature Through the Eyes of Faith,
with Roger Lundin (1989); The Story of South Africa: J.M.
Coetzee's Fiction in Context (1991); Postcolonial Literature
and the Biblical Call to Justice (1994); and Truth and
Reconciliation: The Confessional Mode in South African Literature
(2002). Susan has been at SPU since 1993.
Michael Hamilton, Consultant to SERVE, Associate
Professor of History, Chair of History Department, and Consultant
for Development of Academic Programs
Michael received his B.A. in History from Seattle Pacific University
in 1986, M.A. in History from University of Notre Dame, 1988,
and Ph.D. in American History from Notre Dame in 1995. He is also
consultant for the Pew Christian Scholars Program at theUniversity
of Notre Dame.
His publications include Faith and Learning at Wheaton College,
co-authored with James Mathisen in Models for Christian Higher
Education, Eds. Hughes and Adrian, 1997; American Evangelicalism
and the National Economy, 1870-1997, co-authored with Klay
and Lunn, and The Financing of American Evangelicalism
both in More Money, More Ministry: Money and Evangelicals in Recent
North American History, Eds. Eskridge and Noll; and The Elusive
Idea of Christian Scholarship in Christian Scholars Review.
Mike has been at SPU since 1999.
