Hendrix-Lilly Vocations Initiative Travel Scholarship
The Hendrix-Lilly Vocations Initiative is hosting a conference for undergraduates and providing travel scholarships for two students from each college with a PTEV program. This year's conference is "Vocation and Film" and will be held at Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas February 15th - 16th, 2008.
During the conference, students will have the opportunity to view three documentaries about faith communities and their actions in the world, meet the producers of each documentary and talk with them about their sense of vocation as film-makers, and to explore through lectures, panel discussions, and small group sessions the meaning which these doumentaries carry for our lives and callings today. The three documentaries and their producers are: Jesus Camp by Rachel Grady and Heidi Ewing; Power of Forgiveness by Martin Doblemeier; Homestretch by Sheri Bylander.
Award:
- The cost of either flight or car mileage, including rental, a hotel room with breakfast, and main meals Friday evening and Saturday lunch.
Eligibility:
- Students interested in a vocation in the film industry or the use of film in another vocation.
Application:
- 300 word essay explaining why you would like to attend this conference and your long-term vocational interests
- Unofficial copy of your transcript
- Applications must be submitted to the Center for Scholarship and Faculty Development office no later than January 4th, 2008.
