Seattle Pacific crew has enjoyed a new facility with the Royal Brougham
Pavilion addition of 1992. Spacious and all encompassing, the shell house
provides for 5600 square feet of space for boat stowage, conditioning
equipment, and staff office. The Seattle Pacific Crew facility is one
of very few on-campus collegiate crew facilities in the nation.
The Falcon crew shells are virtually all Pocock Racing Shells, which are locally made. The innovator of the monocoque design, as well as the latest in composite materials, Pocock hulls are among the stiffest, lightest, and fastest hulls made today and have helped bring seven Falcon crews to national level championships in as many years.
The SPU dock accesses the Lake Washington Ship Canal with almost unlimited fresh water in both Lake Union and Lake Washington that never freezes over in the moderate northwest climate. There is always calm water to be found and is why many elite level athletes are increasingly calling Seattle home.
