Career Development Center WINTER 2009

Lilly Service Internship Fund Recipients!

Please congratulate these students on their award and thank them for their contributions to these worthy service projects:

Emily Aldrich
– The SOLD Project, Board Member and SPU/Seattle area representative.

Emily is interning with The SOLD Project, a grassroots organization that seeks to raise awareness about and put an end to child prostitution in Thailand by partnering with Christian churches willing to stand against this billion dollar industry. The project works with local partners to identify and liberate Thai boys and girls from forced sexual servitude, and raises awareness about the issue and funds to support their work. Emily will assist in planning and implementing a SOLD documentary film screening at SPU on February 14 for Seattle area churches and partners, among other projects. Emily is a junior majoring in Individual and Family Development.

Benjamin Stuart - Seattle Children’s Theatre, Drama School Apprentice.

Having interned with Seattle Children’s Theatre this past summer, Ben applied to and was accepted into the Drama School Apprentice program at SCT for Winter quarter. Ben will work closely with Seattle Children’s Theatre faculty to teach and eventually to create curriculum for Seattle area children on participatory theatre education and theatre arts training. With a passion for helping children gain access to theatre arts and to explore their creative gifts, Ben’s goal is to become a professional teaching artist. Ben is a junior in Theatre Education with a minor in English Literature and working toward teaching certification in both Theatre and English.

We are thrilled that Lilly SERVE has been able to assist these students with as they seek to discern God’s call on their lives to serve and contribute to the world and to their communities.
