Post-Tenure Review Portfolio

The following is a guide to assist you in the development of your post-tenure review portfolio. The post-tenure portfolio is meant to be an abbreviated version of a third-year review file. Its general purpose is not only to document our professional accountability to SPU, but also to invite systematic reflection on our own goals and how those personal goals meet the goals of our departments and schools. Your reflections need only cover the past five years, no matter if you have been tenured for decades!

You may refer to on-line sections of the Faculty Handbook (under Evaluation, 5.5.5) for additional information concerning post-tenure review--its frequency, timing of review, committee process, and follow up. Our focus here is on the contents of the portfolio.

Your portfolio should include the following items:

  1. a current Curriculum Vitae;
  2. a summary report from your last formal review (tenure, promotion, etc.);
  3. your most recent past PDP with the response from your Dean (or Dean's designee);
  4. a draft of a new PDP that describes progress and projects one to five years into the future in conjunction with departmental priorities and needs;
  5. a reflection on current developments in your life and career in light of your Christian faith and vocation;
  6. representative student evaluations of teaching;
  7. appropriate peer-reviews of your teaching as defined by the dean (or dean's designee). Remember: you may agree to focus on one course for peer review—see CAS Procedures for Post-Tenure Review.
