Self-Assessment  for Professor "I.M. Planning"

  • Learning and Teaching
    • In my upper division majors course I will incorporate three problem-based learning exercises.  (Describe briefly, with key details for later assessment.)
    • - I managed to incorporate one of the exercises. I need to refocus it as a group learning exercise, since this was the most successful element.  The other two exercises are in development.

    • In collaboration with colleagues in two other departments I will develop a discussion group involving students and faculty.
    • - The discussion group started in spring quarter.  We meet every other week.

  • Scholarship
    • I am currently writing a paper based on my research on the effects of assessment on professional growth.  My goal is to have it submitted one year from now.
    • - Accepted by the Journal of Irreproducible Results.

    • My new research focus is in the area of interpretive dance and impromptu theater as classroom learning strategies.  In the next three years I will write a grant proposal and submit the manuscript reporting the initial results of studies initiated this year.

      - Currently am writing a grant proposal to the National Endowment for Creative Genius.  Two undergraduate researchers and I completed preliminary studies during the summer.

  • Service and Personal Growth
    • I will complete my term as chair of Faculty Development Committee, initiating a study of strategies for enhancing support for faculty scholarship.

      - Working with administration, a new program for faculty scholarship enhancement was developed and funded.
