Referendum | Initiative
Section 1: Referendum
A referendum shall be a petition from the membership opposing
legislation proposed or already in effect. Whenever petitioned
by fifteen (15) percent of the members of the ASSP, the
Student Senate shall provide for referendum election. Voting
shall be by secret ballot, governed by the Elections Task
Force. A two-thirds (2/3) majority of those voting shall
be necessary to pass the referendum.
Section 2: Initiative
An initiative shall be a petition from the members to bring
about new legislation to be presented to the ASSP. Whenever
petitioned by fifteen (15) percent of the members of the
ASSP, the Student Senate shall provide for an initiative
election. Voting shall be by secret ballot, governed by
the Elections Task Force. A two-thirds (2/3) majority of
those voting shall be necessary to pass the initiative.
