LACEY, Wash. (Sept. 7) Jeff Hallenbeck's
first-half goal was enough to send 11th-ranked Seattle Pacific
University past Saint Martin's, 1-0, in the Great Northwest
Athletic Conference opening men's soccer game for both teams
Friday at the Regional Athletic Complex.
Unbeaten through five games, the Falcons
(4-0-1) posted their third shutout, although keeper Kellen Rosten
(Sr., Colorado Springs, Co.) was only required to make one save.
Hallenbeck (Sr., Redmond, Wa./Inglemoor) scored
his second goal of the season in the 37th minute. Following a
corner kick, Colin Kosco (Jr., Edmonds, Wa./Meadowdale) put the
ball back into the box and Hallenbeck headed home from 8 yards.
Hallenbeck has now either scored or assisted on
the Falcons' last four goals over three games.
Seattle Pacific finished with an 11-3 advantage
in shots and 8-2 in corners. Saints (2-5-0) goalie Zac Lubin made
seven saves.
All four SPU wins have been by one goal.
It was the 594th career victory for Falcons
coach Cliff McCrath.
Seattle Pacific visits No. 6 Cal State L.A.
