SEATTLE (Aug. 14) For the fourth year in
a row Seattle Pacific University starts the women's soccer seasons
with a national ranking.
The Falcons are No. 12 in the NSCAA/adidas
preseason coaches poll after finishing last year at No. 14.
Defending NCAA Division II champion Metro State
(Co.) is No. 1, followed by Grand Valley State (Mi.) and West
Chester (Pa.).
Other Far West Region teams are UC San Diego
(No. 5) and Seattle University (No. 17).
A year ago SPU was No. 2 in the preseason. The
Falcons finished 17-5-0 and advanced to the regional championship
game for the third straight year. They have eight starters
returning.
The season opens Aug. 23 when Seattle Pacific
hosts Hawaii Hilo at Interbay Stadium.
