Seattle Pacific's Perkins Receives Postgrad Scholarship
June 26, 2007

SEATTLE (June 26) Teona Perkins of Seattle Pacific University's track and field team has been awarded an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship for spring sports participants.

Perkins (Sr., Kennewick, Wa), winner of the Division II championship in the outdoor high jump and a two-time All-American, becomes the Falcons' 22nd NCAA honoree and eighth in three years. Earlier this year gymnast Sarah Sullivan received the award.

Perkins is the sixth SPU female track and field athlete to receive an NCAA postgraduate award.

A European Studies major with a 3.70 GPA, Perkins won national and Great Northwest Athletic Conference titles in May. Last winter she took fourth in the NCAA indoor high jump and graduates with the GNAC outdoor record.

The NCAA has awarded 58 postgraduate scholarships of $7,500 each to 29 male student-athletes and 29 female student-athletes who participated in spring sports. Including fall and winter sports, a total of 174 postgraduate scholarships were awarded.
