2007 Schedule
SEATTLE -- Picking up precisely where they
exited last season, Seattle Pacific University volleyball players
will begin their 2007 season with a tournament hosted by perennial
national power Cal State San Bernardino.
The Falcons seek their third straight Great
Northwest Athletic Conference championship and NCAA Division II
tournament appearance. They open Aug. 23 against Cal State San
Bernardino, and play their first eight matches in the Golden
State.
Among those are three meetings with teams which
finished among the nation¹s top seven in 2006. On Aug. 24,
SPU plays defending regional champion UC San Diego, and on Sept. 1
in Seaside, Ca., the Falcons face defending NCAA champion Tampa.
Winner of 19 in a row at home, Seattle Pacific
opens defense of its GNAC title Sept. 6 at home against Seattle
University. It begins a a three-match homestand. The Falcons have
won 27 consecutive league matches.
Seniors will be celebrated prior to what
promises to be an all-important matinee, Nov. 3 versus Central
Washington.
Coach Chris Johnson has three starters back,
including all-region selection Alyssa Given and all-GNAC middle
Rachel Biornstad. SPU finished 24-3 and ranked No. 18 in the
nation.
