2007 Volleyball Team Takes Up Where It Left Off: San Bernardino
June 17, 2007

Complete 2007 Schedule

SEATTLE -- Picking up precisely where they exited last season, Seattle Pacific University volleyball players will begin their 2007 season with a tournament hosted by perennial national power Cal State San Bernardino.

The Falcons seek their third straight Great Northwest Athletic Conference championship and NCAA Division II tournament appearance. They open Aug. 23 against Cal State San Bernardino, and play their first eight matches in the Golden State.

Among those are three meetings with teams which finished among the nation¹s top seven in 2006. On Aug. 24, SPU plays defending regional champion UC San Diego, and on Sept. 1 in Seaside, Ca., the Falcons face defending NCAA champion Tampa.

Winner of 19 in a row at home, Seattle Pacific opens defense of its GNAC title Sept. 6 at home against Seattle University. It begins a a three-match homestand. The Falcons have won 27 consecutive league matches.

Seniors will be celebrated prior to what promises to be an all-important matinee, Nov. 3 versus Central Washington.

Coach Chris Johnson has three starters back, including all-region selection Alyssa Given and all-GNAC middle Rachel Biornstad. SPU finished 24-3 and ranked No. 18 in the nation.
