SEATTLE (June 7) Teona Perkins, Karin
Rohde and Eddie Strickler of Seattle Pacific University track and
field program have been voted to the ESPN The Magazine
Academic All-District VIII teams.
All are now finalists for the Academic
All-America team, to be announced later this month.
A European Studies major with a 3.70 grade
point average, Perkins (Sr., Kennewick, Wa.) won the women's high
jump at the NCAA Championships last month. She was a three-time
All-American in two seasons and won two conference championships.
Perkins was the West Region indoor field athlete of the year as a
senior and conference indoor track & field athlete of the year
as a junior.
Rohde (Jr., Bellingham, Wa./Mt. Baker) was the
Great Northwest Athletic Conference champion in the indoor 5000
meters and the steeplechase outdoors, the latter for the second
year in a row. She was also All-America in the indoor mile (fifth)
and distance medley relay (8th). Rohde is a nursing major with a
3.82 GPA.
Strickler (Sr., Richland, Wa.) claimed three
GNAC 800 titles, indoors and outdoors, and was All-America indoors
as a senior, taking eighth at nationals. He completed his career
by finishing ninth in the NCAA outdoor meet and is ranked No. 2 on
the conference all-time 800 list.
