SPU Champions Share GNAC Women's Track Athlete of Week Honors

SEATTLE (May 28) ­ Teona Perkins and Jessica Pixler of Seattle Pacific University were chosen the Great Northwest Athletic Conference women's track and field co-athletes of the week following their victories at the NCAA Championships.

Perkins (Sr., Kennewick, Wa.) won the high jump while Pixler (Fr., Sammamish, Wa./Eastlake) finished first in the 1500 meters and second in the 800. Perkins cleared a GNAC-record 5 feet, 10 inches. Pixler ran the 1500 in a time of 4:22.23 and finished second in the 800 in 2:07.90. She had set a GNAC record of 2:07.44 in the prelims.

Also getting a share of the weekly honor was Monika Gruszecki, Western Washington's javelin champion.

Pixler plans to run in the USA Junior National Championships next month in Indianapolis.
