SEATTLE (May 19) ­ Jacquie Mattson, Oregon's high jump champion, has signed a national letter of intent with the Seattle Pacific University's track and field team for next season.

A senior at Hood River Valley, Mattson matched her career best by clearing 5 feet, 5 inches to win the state 6A crown Thursday night in Eugene. She had also won her district meet. Mattson had finished fourth in the state as a junior.

Seattle Pacific has won two consecutive Great Northwest Athletic Conference outdoor championships and four in a row indoors. The Falcons, who finished seventh at the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships, compete at the national outdoor meet in Charlotte, N.C., May 24-26.
