May 9, 2007

SEATTLE (May 9) Brittany Aanstad of Lake Stevens and Jeeni Schantin of Oregon's Clackamas Community College have signed national letters of intent tom compete for Seattle Pacific University next season in track and field.

Aanstad won the state 4A javelin title as a junior, when her best throw was 146-1. She currently ranks third in the state at 139-9. Aanstad is also tied for fifth in the high jump at 5-5, and qualified for state a year ago.

Schantin, who will be a junior at SPU, threw the spear 150-5 as a freshman at Clackamas, located in Oregon City. A graduate of West Linn High School, she was third in the Oregon 4A championships in 2005.

Seattle Pacific has won both the Great Northwest Athletic Conference indoor and outdoor championships the past two years, and finished seventh in the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships in March.
