SEATTLE (May 1) Sarah Sullivan of
Seattle Pacific University's gymnastics team has been awarded an
NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship for winter sports participants.
Sullivan (Sr., Salem, Or./Sprague), an
eight-time All-American and Mountain Pacific Sports Federation
champion on balance beam this past season, becomes the Falcons'
21st NCAA honoree and seventh in three years.
Sullivan is the fourth SPU gymnast to receive
an NCAA postgraduate award.
An art major with a 3.63 GPA, Sullivan helped
lead Seattle Pacific to second place at the USA Gymnastics
Collegiate Championships last month. She took third on floor,
fifth on vault and seventh in all-around. In addition to winning
the MPSF title on beam, Sullivan was runner-up on vault, floor and
all-around.
The NCAA has awarded 58 postgraduate
scholarships of $7,500 each to 29 male student-athletes and 29
female student-athletes who participated in winter sports.
Including fall and spring sports, a total of 170 postgraduate
scholarships will be awarded.
