SEATTLE (Apr. 23) – After throwing the javelin six feet beyond her previous best, Seattle Pacific University’s Molly Barnes was named the women’s track and field athlete of the week in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.

Barnes (Sr., Burien, Wa.,/Highline) finished second in the javelin at the Cougar Invitational with an NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 147-3. It is the No. 6 throw in Division II this season.

SPU competes Friday at the Western Washington Twilight in Bellingham.
