MONMOUTH, Ore (Apr. 23) Seattle Pacific
University's Justin Felt stands second following the first day of
the Great Northwest Athletic Conference decathlon Monday at
MacArthur Field.
The Falcons' Kelsey Cooley (Jr., Missoula, Mt.)
is fifth in the heptathlon.
Felt's (Fr., Eugene, Or./Churchill) first five
events included a winning long jump of 21 feet, 7½ inches and
personal records of 33-7¼ in the shot put and 51.53 seconds
in the 400 meters. He also ran the 100 in 11.71 and high-jumped
5-5¾.
Zeb Udell of host Western Oregon leads with
3375 points with Felt's total at 3192.
Jacque Postlewait of WOU had 2720 point after
the firs four events of the heptathlon. Cooley, last year's
runner-up and coming back from injuries which have hampered her
the past three weeks, has 2453. Her top score came in the high
jump, where she cleared 5-2½. Cooley's other marks were 28.36
in the 200, 16.53 in the hurdles and a shot put of 30-1.
