SEATTLE (Apr. 17) -- Seattle Pacific University
led all teams with seven selections to the Academic All-Mountain
Pacific Sports Federation gymnastics team.
Kristin Bryant (Sr., Anchorage, Ak./West
Anchorage) and Sarah Sullivan (Sr., Salem, Or./Sprague), both
event champions at last month¹s MPSF Championships, were
named for the third time. Christie Chinaka (Jr., Honolulu, Hi.)
and Ashley Domres (Jr., Phoenix, Az./Scottsdale Christian) were
repeat selections.
Sullivan is an art major with a 3.63 grade
point average and Bryant is a political science major with a 3.19.
Sullivan was first on beam and Bryant on vault in the conference
meet.
An Education major, Chinaka has a team-high
3.79 GPA and Domres a 3.75 in interior design.
Making the academic all-conference selection
for the first time were sophomores Melissa Daniels (Salinas, Ca.N.
Monterey Bay), Sadie Johnston (Wilsonville, Or./North Marion) and
Amber Lundgren (Temecula, Ca./Temecula Valley).
To be eligible for the award, gymnasts must
have a GPA of 3.00 or higher and be in their second year of
competition. Alaska Anchorage had six academic selections.
The Falcons won their second consecutive MPSF
championship and host the USA Gymnastics Collegiate Championships
beginning Thursday.
