ELLENSBURG, Wash. (Apr. 14) Jessica
Hinton won both of the short sprints to highlight Seattle Pacific
University's day at the Spike Arlt Invitational track and field
meet Saturday at Tomlinson Stadium.
Hinton (Fr., Lake Stevens, Wa.) won the 100
meters in a personal-best time of 12.54 seconds and the 200 in
25.6, helping the shorthanded Falcons take fourth place overall.
Host Central Washington won both the women's
and men's team titles. The SPU women, with many of their
frontrunners at the Mount SAC Relays this weekend, got only five
points from the field events. The men were seventh.
In all, Seattle Pacific athletes were winners
in six events but did not add any NCAA qualifying marks.
Kim Beaman (So., Emily, Mn.) began the day with
a win in the steeplechase (12:34.0) and Katie Hart (So., Pasadena,
Ca.) followed by taking first in the 5000 (19:11.2). The women's
other win came from Jenn Marsh (Sr., Kirkland, Wa./Juanita) in the
800 (2:19.60).
Justin Felt (Fr., Eugene, Or./Churchill)
claimed the men's sole win in the long jump, with a season-best
leap of 22 feet, 3¾ inches.
Next week the Falcons will be in Eugene for the
Oregon Invitational.
