BELLINGHAM, Wa. (Apr. 7)Jessica Pixler
won the 800 and 1500 meters as four Seattle Pacific women and one
man posted NCAA qualifying marks at the Ralph Vernacchia
Invitational Saturday afternoon in Bellingham.
Pixler (Fr., Samammish, Wa./Eastlake) bettered
her own NCAA automatic qualifying mark in the 1500, finishing in
4:23.17, more than 15 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor. The
freshman doubled up in running a 2:10.64 in the 800 meters
a provisional qualifying mark. Both times won their respective
distances.
Teammates Monica Anderson (Jr., Bremerton, Wa.)
and Tracie Lundsten (Fr., Banks, Or.) launched NCAA provisional
marks in the pole vault. Anderson cleared 12-1.5 to earn first;
Lundsten made it over 11-7.75 to finish in second place.
Karin Rohde (Jr., Bellingham, Wa./Mount Baker)
clocked in an NCAA Provisional 11:22.2 in the 3000 meter
steeplechase (1st place).
On the mens side, Brian Cronrath (Jr.,
Battle Ground, Wa.) ran a personal record by well over three
seconds to win the 1500 in 3:52.93. Cronraths time also
places him on the provisional list.
SPU got an individual victory from NyEma Sims
(Fr., Portland, Or./Jefferson) in the 100 meters (12.64), where
she has already hit the provisional standard.
Seattle Pacific will send select athletes to
the Mount SAC Relays (Apr. 13-15) in Southern California. The rest
of the squad will compete at the Spike Arlt Invitational, Apr. 14
in Ellensburg. |
