SPU Women’s Varsity Four Wins at Governor’s Cup
April 7, 2007

SALEM, Or. (Apr. 7)—Seattle Pacific University’s women’s varsity four finished first, and the women’s varsity eight was second in the prestige event in 2007 Governor’s Cup Regatta at Salem, Saturday afternoon.

Willamette University finished atop the women’s varsity eight in 6:29.90, 15.3 seconds ahead of the Falcons (6:45.2). Lewis & Clark clocked in at third in 7:01.1 over the 2,000 meter course.

Seattle Pacific’s women’s varsity four boat came in at a 7:55.0 clip, nearly 12 seconds ahead of Willamette (8:06.7).

The day’s races began with a headwind and some rain, but finished with good weather for the final four races. The most favorable weather was present for the men’s and women’s varsity eight races.

Seattle Pacific competes next at the Covered Bridge Regatta in Eugene.
