came up short in their last quadrangular gymnastics meet of the
season against Washington, Utah, and host Oregon State Friday
night in the Salbasgeon Suites Invitational.
Utah took first (196.675) overall, boosting
their record to 11-7 while Oregon State (13-5) claimed second
(196.600), only .075 points away from the gold. Seattle Pacific
(1-15) scored 189.750 behind Washingtons (4-9) 193.625.
Oregon State sophomore Jami Lanz won the
all-around (39.475) and received 9.900 on uneven bars, balance
beam, and floor exercise, placing her on the podium for three of
the four events.
Beaver teammate Tasha Smith took second in
all-around (39.450) and tied with Lanz on balance beam (9.900).
Nicolle Ford, one of Utahs senior
all-arounders, claimed first on uneven bars with one of the
highest scores of the night, 9.950.
Fellow Ute Kristina Baskett received first on
vault (9.950) and tied with Oregon States Tasha Smith and
Jami Lanz for first on floor exercise (9.900).
A bright spot for the Falcons, although vacant
from the podium tonight, was a season-high uneven bars score from
Debra Huss (Orangevale, Ca./Bella Vista) of 9.725.
