March 16, 2007

Corvallis, Or. (Mar. 16)—Seattle Pacific came up short in their last quadrangular gymnastics meet of the season against Washington, Utah, and host Oregon State Friday night in the Salbasgeon Suites Invitational.

Utah took first (196.675) overall, boosting their record to 11-7 while Oregon State (13-5) claimed second (196.600), only .075 points away from the gold. Seattle Pacific (1-15) scored 189.750 behind Washington’s (4-9) 193.625.

Oregon State sophomore Jami Lanz won the all-around (39.475) and received 9.900 on uneven bars, balance beam, and floor exercise, placing her on the podium for three of the four events.

Beaver teammate Tasha Smith took second in all-around (39.450) and tied with Lanz on balance beam (9.900).

Nicolle Ford, one of Utah’s senior all-arounders, claimed first on uneven bars with one of the highest scores of the night, 9.950.

Fellow Ute Kristina Baskett received first on vault (9.950) and tied with Oregon State’s Tasha Smith and Jami Lanz for first on floor exercise (9.900).
