March 12, 2007

SEATTLE (Mar. 12) – After becoming the school’s first freshman to win an NCAA championship in 15 years, Seattle Pacific University’s Jessica Pixler was named the women’s track and field athlete of the week in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.

Pixler (Fr., Sammamish, Wa./Eastlake) won the mile by nearly five seconds at the NCAA indoor nationals, smashing her own SPU and GNAC records in a time of 4:42.42. She also earned All-American honors in the distance medley relay, anchoring the Falcons’ foursome which finished eighth.

Seattle Pacific’s outdoor campaign resumes Friday evening at the Washington Preview.
