Barnes Throws Javelin for NCAA Provisional mark Outdoors

TACOMA, Wash. (Mar. 10) ­ Molly Barnes became Seattle Pacific University's second national qualifier in the javelin Saturday, highlighting the Falcons' performance at the Joe Peyton Invitational track and field meet at Baker Stadium.

Barnes (Sr., Burien, Wa./Highline) threw for second place with a mark of 141 feet, 3 inches­more than 8 feet past the NCAA Division II provisional standard. The Falcons' Brittany Bekins qualified a week ago.

Elsewhere for SPU, Lisa Anderberg (Fr., Edmonds, Wa./Kamiak) won the 800 meters (2:20.30), just ahead of teammate Suzie Strickler (So., Richland, Wa.).

Monica Anderson (Jr., Bremerton, Wa.) was runner-up in the pole vault (10-11¾).

For the men, Brian Cronrath (Jr., Battle Ground, Wa.) ran second in the 5000 (15:09.68) and Joshua Jorgensen was second in pole vault (12-5½).

Next Friday afternoon Seattle Pacific will send athletes to the Washington Preview at Husky Stadium.
