Only A Soph, Falcons’ Hill Makes Women's Basketball All-Region Team
March 7, 2007

SEATTLE (Mar. 7) Seattle Pacific University scoring and rebounding leader Kelsey Hill has been voted to the Daktronics all-West Region women’s basketball second team.

Hill (So., 6-2, Portland, Or./Portland Christian), who was also a unanimous all-Great Northwest Athletic Conference first team selection earlier this week, is a first-time regional honoree.

The Falcons (19-8) open with Sonoma State at the NCAA Division II West Regional in La Jolla, Calif., Friday.

Hill becomes just the Falcons’ second underclassmen to earn all-region honors. She averaged 11.9 points and 8.4 rebounds during the regular season, ranking 10th and third, respectively, in the GNAC. She also ranked among the leaders in field-goal percentage (.514) and free-throw percentage (.765).

Leora Juster of UC San Diego repeated as the region player of the year. Joining Juster on the first team were centers Amber Simmons of Chico State, Rebecca Kielpinski of Alaska Anchorage and Vanessa Wilt of Cal State San Bernardino and forward Leada Berkey of Western Oregon.

Mollie Stelmack of Western Washington, Katie Wilder of Humboldt State and Rosalyn Nelson of Grand Canyon, Latoya Wily of BYU-Hawaii and Mia Spasowska made the second team, along with Hill.

Players selected to the region first team will now be listed on the Daktronics All-America national ballot. The All-America team will be announced later this month.
