SEATTLE (Mar. 7) Dustin Bremerman, the
second-most prolific career scorer in Seattle Pacific University
mens basketball history, has been named to the Daktronics
all-West Region first team.
Bremerman (Sr., 6-4, Yakima, Wa./Eisenhower),
earlier named the co-player of the year in the Great Northwest
Athletic Conference, was a repeat selection after making the
second team as a junior.
Bremerman is averaging 18.8 points and ranks
eighth in NCAA Division II free-throw shooting accuracy (.886).
He's also hitting 50.2 percent of his field goals. He ranks No. 2
to Loren Anderson in SPU career scoring and second to Jeff McBroom
in career three-pointers.
Seattle Pacific (18-9) faces Grand Canyon in
the West Regional tournament Friday night in Arcata, Calif.
Kevin Johnson of regional host Humboldt State
was voted the West player of the year. Joining Johnson and
Bremerman on the first team were forwards Jontae Vinson of Cal
State-Los Angeles and Jushay Rockett of Alaska Fairbanks and
Chaminade guard Zack Whiting. All five first-team selections will
now go on the national ballot for Daktronics All-American.
Named to the second team were J.T. Tipton of
Sonoma State, Lukas Henne of Western Washington, Dion Cook of Cal
Poly Pomona and Prentice Harris of Cal State San Bernardino and
Devin Peal of Humboldt State.
The team is selected by the sports information
directors at the region's schools that sponsor men's basketball
and includes teams, which compete in the California Collegiate
Athletic Association, the Pacific West Conference and the Great
Northwest Athletic Conference.
