SEATTLE (Feb. 28) Seattle Pacific
University placed a total of 10 men's and women's basketball
players on the Academic All-Great Northwest Athletic Conference
teams, which were announced Wednesday.
The Falcons, currently atop both the men¹s
and women¹s standings, led all 10 GNAC teams with seven women
and three men. It was the fourth year in a row that SPU had the
most men and the third straight such honor for the women, who tied
with Central Washington.
Rachel Strand (Exercise Science, Sr., 3.39,
Shoreline, Wa./King's) made it for a third year in a row. Strand
is an exercise science major with 3.39 grade point average.
Autumn Fielding (Psychology, Sr., 3.74,
Kennewick, Wa.) and Beth Christensen (Physical education, Jr.,
3.57, Enumclaw, Wa.) were repeat selections.
Jackie Hollands (Psychology, Jr., 3.49, Oregon
City, Or.), Lexi Schaar (European studies, So., 3.35, Crookston,
Minn.), Jessie Menkens (Communications, Sr., 3.30, Battle Ground,
Wa.) and Jessie Christensen (Physical education, Jr., 3.27,
Enumclaw, Wa.) were all first-time honorees for the women.
For the men, Dustin Bremerman (Sr., Yakima,
Wa/Eisenhower) was selected for the third consecutive year.
Bremerman, the No. 4 scorer in the GNAC, is a business
administration major with a 3.34 GPA.
Brian Lynch (Business, Sr., 3.52, Missoula,
Mt./Great Falls) and Austin Yuen (Engineering & Application
Science, Sr., Mercer Island, Wa.) were selected for the first
time.
A total of 28 women and 15 men were named to
the academic teams. To be eligible, student-athletes must have a
minimum grade point average of 3.200 and be in at least their
second year of competition at their institution.
