Pixler, Perkins and Relay Have High Seeds In Upcoming NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships
February 27, 2007

SEATTLE (Feb. 27) Jessica Pixler and Teona Perkins of Seattle Pacific University are seeded first and third in the women's mile and high jump, respectively, for the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships next week in Boston.

Altogether, the Falcons will be sending seven women and one male to the national meet, Mar. 9-10 at the Reggie Lewis Center.

Pixler (Fr., Sammamish, Wa./Eastlake) holds the top qualifying mark in the mile, with an SPU and Great Northwest Athletic Conference record of 4 minutes, 47.80 -- more than 5 seconds faster than the No. 2 seed. She is also a member of the distance medley relay, which owns the second-best qualifying mark (11:45.92). Pixler had the No. 4 time in the 800 meters but elected to scratch.

Perkins (Sr., Kennewick, Wa.), who was sixth in the high jump last season, has cleared 5 feet, 8 3/4 inches this winter. She is the only Falcon returning to Boston for the second year in a row.

Eddie Strickler (Sr., Richland, Wa.) will be running in his first NCAA meet. The GNAC champion is seeded sixth in the 800 (1:52.26). Four of the seven female qualifiers are freshmen. Jenn Marsh (Sr., Kirkland, Wa./Juanita) qualified for the NCAA 800 as a freshman in 2004, and is a member of the medley relay. She just missed making the cut in the 800.

Also accepted into the field were milers Jane Larson (Fr., Fall City, Wa./Cedar Park Christian) and Karin Rohde (Jr., Bellingham, Wa./Mt. Baker), 60-meter sprinter Nyema Sims (Fr., Portland, Or./Jefferson) and relay member Jessica Hinton (Fr., Lake Stevens, Wa.).
