Relay Races to Nation's Top Time, Strickler Is Boston-Bound

SEATTLE (Feb. 24) ­ Seattle Pacific University clocked the nation's fastest qualifying time in the women's distance medley relay and Eddie Strickler all but assured himself a place at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & field Championships at the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Last Chance meet Saturday at the dempsey facility.

Strickler (Sr., Richland, Wa.) won the 800 meters and broke his own SPU record in 1:52.26. Teammate Brian Cronrath (Jr., Battle Ground, Wa.) took second in a provisional qualifying mark of 1:53.85.

The Falcons' relay of Jessica Hinton (Fr., Lake Stevens, Wa.), Jessica Pixler (Fr., Sammamish, Wa./Eastlake), Karin Rohde (Jr., Belingham, Wa./Mt. Baker) and Jennifer Marsh (Sr., Kirkland, Wa./Juanita) shattered the GNAC and school record by nearly 11 seconds, winning in 11:45.92.

Also for SPU, Monica Anderson (So., Bremerton, Wa.) made the provisional list in the pole vault. She took first in the meet with a best clearance of 11 feet, 10 inches.

The NCAA Championships are Mar. 9-10 in Boston.
