SEATTLE (Feb. 21) Seattle Pacific
University freshmen Jessica Pixler was voted the Outstanding
Female Performer from Monday's Great Northwest Athletic Conference
Indoor Track & Field championship meet at Nampa, Idaho.
Pixler (Fr., Sammamish, Wa./Eastlake) won the
women's mile and 800 meters - both in meet record times --
leading Seattle Pacific to its fourth consecutive women's team
title. Pixler's mile clocking was 4:54.53 and her 2:11.52 was
fourth-best in NCAA Division II this season. Earlier this season,
she set an automatic qualifying time in the mile with a GNAC
record time of 4:47.80 which also leads the nation.
Michael Dean of Western Washington was selected
as the outstanding male. Dean swept the men's 200 and 400 in times
of 22.42 and 49.95 and also finished eighth in the 60 after
setting a meet record in the prelims with a time of 7.06 to lead
the Vikings to a second-place team finish.
The selections were made in a vote of the
league's coaches Wednesday.
