February 21, 2007

SEATTLE (Feb. 21) Seattle Pacific University freshmen Jessica Pixler was voted the Outstanding Female Performer from Monday's Great Northwest Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field championship meet at Nampa, Idaho.

Pixler (Fr., Sammamish, Wa./Eastlake) won the women's mile and 800 meters - both in meet record times -- leading Seattle Pacific to its fourth consecutive women's team title. Pixler's mile clocking was 4:54.53 and her 2:11.52 was fourth-best in NCAA Division II this season. Earlier this season, she set an automatic qualifying time in the mile with a GNAC record time of 4:47.80 which also leads the nation.

Michael Dean of Western Washington was selected as the outstanding male. Dean swept the men's 200 and 400 in times of 22.42 and 49.95 and also finished eighth in the 60 after setting a meet record in the prelims with a time of 7.06 to lead the Vikings to a second-place team finish.

The selections were made in a vote of the league's coaches Wednesday.
