February 14, 2007

SEATTLE (Feb. 14) Seattle Pacific University rose to No. 4 in this week's NCAA Division II West Region rankings for men's basketball.

The Falcons (15-8), who had been No. 5 entering last week, split a pair of games. They play only once this week, Saturday at Saint Martin's.

There is a new No. 1 team in the West. Humboldt State supplanted Cal State San Bernardino. Cal Poly Pomona is third. The top seed will have the right to host the regional tournament in March.

Four Great Northwest Athletic Conference teams are among those receiving consideration. Alaska Anchorage and Alaska Fairbanks, both due to visit SPU next week, are fifth and eighth, respectively.
