Perkins Wins High Jump, Books Trip to Boston for NCAA Nationals

SEATTLE (Feb. 11) ­ Seattle Pacific University's Teona Perkins met the automatic NCAA Division II qualifying standard in winning the high jump and Jennifer Marsh made the provisional list in the 800 meters at the Washington Open track and field meet Sunday at the Dempsey Indoor.

Perkins (Sr., Kennewick, Wa.) won with a personal-best clearance of 5 feet, 8 3/4 inches. It also ranks No. 3 all-time at Seattle Pacific.

Marsh (Sr., Kirkland, Wa./Juanita) was the runner-up in the 800 in 2:15.97.

For the Falcon men, Eddie Strickler (Sr., Richland, Wa.) just missed the provisional cutoff in the 800, taking third in 1:54.74.

SPU next competes at GNAC Championships Feb. 19 in Nampa, Idaho. The NCAA Championships are Mar. 9-10 in Boston.
