SEATTLE (Feb. 7) Seattle Pacific
University made a significant jump in this weeks NCAA
Division II womens basketball regional rankings, landing at
No. 3.
The Falcons (14-5) moved up three positions
after winning their third game in a row.
There was also a change at the top of the West,
with UC San Diego overtaking Chico State after beating the
Wildcats on their home court. Western Washington.
Other Great Northwest Athletic Conference teams
among the top eight are Seattle University and Alaska Anchorage in
the sixth and seventh positions, respectively.
The top eight teams in next months final
poll, assuming the GNAC and CCAA champions which receive automatic
berths are among the top eight, qualify for the NCAA playoffs.
NCAA West Regional (Feb. 7) - 1. UC San Diego
(14-3), 2. Chico State (14-3); 3. Seattle Pacific (10-4); 4.
Western Washington (12-4); 5. Humboldt State (13-4); 6. Seattle
(13-5); 7. Alaska Anchorage (12-4); 8. Cal State San Bernardino
(11-5); 9. Cal State Dominguez Hills (10-5); 10. Northwest
Nazarene (9-7). Note: Records listed are versus Division II
opponents.
